According to a research conducted by AXA Self Investor, a passive investment in the FTSE 100 over a 10-year period has a 95% probability of being successful over the long term. The average return was a 70 percent increase in value (assuming dividends were reinvested). The research lasted two decades, beginning in February 1996, and included two of the largest stock market catastrophes in history: The Dotcom Bubble and the Global Financial Crisis of 2008-2009.

The Dotcom bubble was a time in which technology businesses in the United States saw significant growth as a result of the internet. Enterprises that did not make a profit or even generate revenue were valued at exorbitant levels on the premise that the internet will make these companies wealthy in the future. The bubble finally burst as a result of excessive speculation, resulting in one of the worst stock market recessions in recent history.

The subprime mortgage market in the United States was the catalyst for the 2008 Financial Catastrophe, which culminated in the fall of Lehman Brothers, which triggered a worldwide financial crisis. It was widely regarded as the greatest financial catastrophe since the Great Depression (Wall Street Crash of 1929). The FTSE 100 had the highest 10-year return of 154 percent, and the lowest 10-year return was a loss of 14.5 percent throughout that time period. From February 1999 (just before the Dotcom bubble burst) until February 2009, this was the time period under consideration (when the world was deep in recession from the 2008 Financial Crisis). In contrast, just six out of every 120 potential periods resulted in a losing period.

There were no extra deposits made throughout any of these years, such as dollar-cost averaging (DCA). This is an investing technique in which the same monetary value is purchased on a regular basis in order to get more exposure while also reducing the effect of volatility on the overall purchase. When prices are low, the investor is able to purchase more units for the same amount of money, which is beneficial.

It should be noted that a contrarian approach is another option that might be employed and was not included in the research. Whenever an investor notices that prices are low, he or she may opt to take advantage of the situation by acquiring a greater number of units than normal in order to drive the average cost further down.
Despite the fact that there is no certainty that an index will recover to its prior high, contrarians have sometimes been handsomely rewarded for purchasing index weakness.

During the early 2000s, we saw the deflating of the Dotcom bubble, which culminated in the Great Financial Crisis of 2007, which culminated in the market reaching its bottom in 2009. Dividends reinvested in the tracker have enhanced its total return even if the index has tended to move sideways.

What is the Best FTSE 100 Tracker to Buy?

The iShares Core FTSE 100 UCITS ETF is, in my view, the finest FTSE 100 tracker to purchase (ISF). Investors Chronicle, a publication of the Financial Times, recommends this. The yearly fee for this ETF is under 0.07 percent, allowing investors to acquire exposure to the top 100 firms in the United Kingdom at a very low cost. Because it loans out assets it owns to short sellers for cash, the iShares Core FTSE 100 UCITS ETF (ISF) may generate additional returns for investors.

Investors in this ETF also benefit from dividends provided by the FTSE 100 index, which is comprised of industry giants and more reliable companies. Dividends, on the other hand, are never guaranteed and may be reduced in periods when corporations are reducing expenses. From the iShares website, below is the performance of the iShares Core FTSE 100 UCITS ETF:

The fund is just a few basis points away from the benchmark FTSE 100 index, but it has a 0.09 percent annual fee. Because the iShares Core FTSE 100 UCITS ETF (ISF) has a low expense ratio of 0.07 percent, it is my top option. Both of these ETFs may be purchased in Individual Savings Accounts (ISAs), which means that any gains earned are tax-free. Some use IG Index and Hargreaves Lansdown for ISAs and investment platform.

2. Tracker Fund for the FTSE 250 Index

The FTSE 250 is a stock market index that tracks the performance of the next 250 largest companies on the London Stock Exchange in terms of market capitalization after the FTSE 100. It is based on market capitalization and is calculated using the FTSE 100 as the benchmark. It is common for stocks to be downgraded from the FTSE 100 and then be promoted to the FTSE 250, and vice versa. In addition, the FTSE 250 is a more domestically oriented index than the FTSE 100.

While there are numerous firms that operate internationally and are multinational organizations (such as Aston Martin, Britvic, Dominoes, and PZ Cussons), there are also a large number of companies that operate entirely in the United Kingdom with little to no exposure to the rest of the world.

Retailers (Dunelm, Dixons Carphone, WH Smith, B&M, Marks & Spencer), entertainment firms (Cineworld, Domino’s, Gregg’s, 888, Wetherspoon), food and beverage industries (Britvic, Tate & Lyle, Barr), and many more types of enterprises are represented within the FTSE 250.

The FTSE 250 has historically outperformed the FTSE 100 because it has a greater number of firms that are smaller and so have the ability to develop more quickly. These smaller enterprises, on the other hand, are often less established than the FTSE 100.

What are the Benefits of Purchasing a FTSE 250 Tracker?

When it comes to investors seeking UK exposure who desire bigger returns than the FTSE 100 but are also ready to incur more risk in exchange for those possible rewards, a FTSE 250 tracker is an excellent option for them to consider. The FTSE 250 has typically outperformed the FTSE 100 in terms of returns. While the past does not guarantee future performance or profits, smaller businesses are frequently more responsive to market changes and opportunities. However, since the FTSE 250 index includes a large number of firms, the risk is well-diversified over the whole portfolio of 250 businesses.

How Much Money can I expect to Earn if I Invest in a FTSE 250 Tracker?

It has historically been more profitable for investors to invest in the FTSE 250 than the FTSE 100. This is due to the fact that smaller firms in the United Kingdom are highlighted, and as a result, they are more concerned with growth than with dividend payments.

The returns are more volatile than the FTSE 100, both to the upside and the negative, as can be seen in the chart. For investors that are looking to the long term, this may be an acceptable risk in the pursuit of greater returns.

Returns in contrast to the benchmark are quite similar for both funds. Despite the fact that Vanguard charges just 0.1 percent yearly fees, this compares to the iShares’ continuing fee of 0.4 percent for both products.

The phrases “contango” and “backwardation” are used in the futures market to describe whether a significant asset’s delivery price is higher or lower than its current spot price. It helps traders and institutions decide whether to buy a financial product at a spot price or via future delivery contracts.

While commodity traders used the futures or forward markets to sell their product at a future date and lock in the current price, not everyone who trades the futures and commodities markets intends to own the product they are trading. A retail trader, for example, can buy a crude oil futures contract without having to take delivery of 1,000 barrels of oil. Instead, they can trade for profit potential, the difference between the opening and closing contract prices.

Traders who understand contango and backwardation can make better trading decisions because they can see how spot prices connect to future prices, often known as the futures curve. Here’s where you can learn more about forwarding trading.

What does it mean to be in contango?

When a commodity futures price is higher than the spot price, it refers to as contango. Consider the current spot price of Brent Crude Oil, which is $70 per barrel. If you buy a two-month-old futures contract and the holder of that contract receives their oil but has to pay $75, the market is in contango. The forward contract’s cost is higher than the spot price or the indicated future price.

As the contract approaches its expiration date, it will climb closer to the spot price. As a result, unless the price rises above the price paid, the contango contract’s value will decline until it reaches the spot price at expiration. If the spot price remains unchanged, the contract bought for $75 will be worth $70 when it expires. The futures curve is what it’s called.

What is the source of contango?

Contango occurs when future prices are higher than current prices due to supply and demand. Market traders may believe that the spot price will rise in the future, making it worthwhile to lock in a price now, even if it is higher than the current spot price.

The “cost of carrying” can also create contango. Because the product cannot be stored, you may pay a higher price for a product that will not deliver for several months. Instead, you’re effectively paying the individual who sold you the contract to store your things. As a result, there is a carrying cost in the form of a higher-than-spot price.

The derivative products allow you to speculate on the price movements of the underlying forward contract, so you don’t have to worry about taking possession or storing your actual asset when spread betting or trading CFDs. It means you can enter a trade based on whether you believe the asset’s price will climb or fall, resulting in profits or losses depending on whether the market moves in your favor.

Contango in Crude Oil

Due to the cost of carrying crude oil, Brent and West Texas are frequently in contango. It needs to be stored. The cash price of Brent Crude Oil shows in the chart below. The black line represents the price of crude for a three-month contract. Contango occurs when the forward contract is persistently higher than the cash price. The cash price was 40.414 at the time, and the forward price was 40.82.

Silver Contango

The silver chart below shows another example of contango. It shows the cash price and the two-month forward contract price, with hourly closing prices. The futures contract trades at a higher price than the spot price during this time, indicating that the market is in contango.

Explained: Backwardation

Backwardation occurs when the spot or predicted spot price is lower than the future or forward price. Consider the current spot price of crude oil, which is $90 per barrel. The market is in backwardation if you buy an oil forward contract that expires in two months and the holder of that contract receives their oil and has to pay $85 because the future delivery price is lower than the current spot price. As the contract approaches its expiration date, it will climb closer to the spot price. As a result, if the spot price remains unchanged, the $85 will rise to $90.

Gasoline Backwardation

When the prices of futures contracts are lower than the cash spot price of gasoline, it is said to be in backwardation. The chart and price levels below demonstrate how this can happen. The cash price is 1.1226, while the forward contract price is 1.1201 a month later. The further away you go, the lower the prices become. According to the chart, the backwardation was more severe in the past. The cash and November prices have converged at the chart’s extreme right.

Backwardation of Natural Gas

It’s common to see backwardation in the natural gas market. There are times when some contracts are less in contango than others, resulting in backwardation.

Let’s say the current natural gas spot price is $2.85. A month later, the price is 3.02, then 3.25, 3.37, but suddenly it reduces to 3.29, which is less than the previous month. 3.21 comes after that. Because the price is continually declining, these later contracts may be going for backwardation. Backwardation is not present in this price market because forward contracts value higher than spot prices. However, if the spot price is 3.37 in January and February and March contracts price below that, backwardation will exist.

Backwardation of Gold

Gold, like silver and natural gas, is rarely in a backward state. Investors pour money into actual gold and gold stocks and ETFs, enhancing its overall value. However, because gold trading links to the US dollar, interest rate fluctuations in the currency can quickly push gold into contango or backwardation.

Backwardation vs. Contango

Backwardation occurs when futures prices climb toward the spot price over time, and contango occurs when futures prices fall toward the spot price over time. Contracts in contango are biased downward, whereas those in backwardation are biased upward. When the contract expires, both spot and futures prices converge.

These biases affect the contracts themselves in both cases, and they may or may not have anything to do with the commodity’s overall price trend. When a forward contract is in contango, it does not mean that the price of a commodity will decline; it means that the price of a significant contract may fall to equal the spot price or that the spot price may climb.

Contango and backwardation are market circumstances that can change. The market might go from backwardation to contango. If conditions change rapidly, a trading strategy indicated on a significant condition may become unprofitable.

Futures on Contango

Contango futures, as well as backwardation, are popular ways to trade the condition. Futures and forwards are two very similar items. A forward contract is an agreement between two parties, such as a trader and a financial broker, whereas a futures contract trades on trading, with the exchange matching the buyer and seller.

How can you profit from backwardation?

Although most traders prefer to trade contango, there are ways to profit from backwardation also. Backwardation occurs when the futures price is higher than the spot or cash price. In this case, a trader could buy a futures contract hoping that it will rise to meet the spot price. It can be profitable if the commodity’s price is rising.

However, if futures prices are lower than expected, this could indicate that traders anticipate less demand for the commodity. If the price chart confirms this by displaying a downward trend, the trader may wish to sell the commodity or futures contract in anticipation of lower prices in the future.

Profiting from backwardation is more complicated than it appears, and it does not solely depend on whether you should buy or sell the asset. Also, evaluate the commodity’s forecast and trend, such as the degree of backwardation.

How do traders utilize backwardation and contango?

Contango and backwardation are terms used by traders to compare the current futures price to the expected spot price of a commodity at delivery. This information can assist a trader in determining whether to go long or short based on whether they believe the futures price will rise above, fall below, or meet the spot price as the delivery date approaches.

Regardless of whether the market is currently in contango or backwardation, the futures price expects to converge on the spot price as the futures contract approaches its delivery date. If this is not the case, and the futures price remains above or below the expected spot price at delivery, the underlying market offers an arbitrage opportunity.

The Importance of Contango and Backwardation for Traders

Even if you do not trade futures contracts, contango can have an immense impact on ETFs that track commodity futures. Contango ETFs on the VIX, crude oil, gold, and even the S&P 500.

However, several instruments like VIX products and leveraged ETFs claim the objective is to match the one-day performance of the underlying index or commodity. To maintain an average inventory for 30 days in a normal contango market, an ETF will buy forward month futures while selling spot or current month contracts. To replace the lower-priced futures, ETFs buy higher-priced futures. During contango periods, this decays. It is why low volatility leveraged ETFs like UVXY tend to lose eight to 13% monthly. Long-term investors should never own these ETFs due to time decay.

Affects ETFs

Extreme contango and backwardation might result from ETF products malfunctioning and breaking. Investors and traders witnessed an unusual incident on April 23rd, 2020, when May crude oil futures went negative the day before expiration, dropping to negative $34 per barrel.

Due to COVID-19’s worldwide demand freeze and oversupply, buyers refused to deliver and take due to storage carry costs. The buyers went not provide the oil, resulting in a negative contract price. Due to the high contango, the widely held United States Oil Fund (NYSEARCA: USO) ETF collapsed and malfunctioned. The long-term effect is not just a loss of value but also a loss of faith in widely held ETF products as investors rudely awakened to the true nature of their holdings.

A tax-efficient method of speculating on the financial market, the spread betting approach is one of the most popular methods of doing so. Many consumers, on the other hand, are perplexed as to how brokers generate money from financial spread-betting given there is no commission charge to pay while completing this activity. This make every effort to answer these and numerous more questions for you, but first, let us define what spread betting is and what you should know about it before we get into the questions themselves.

When it Comes to Spread Betting, What Exactly is it and How Does it Work?

Spread betting is a kind of gambling in which you may put many bets on the result rather than placing a single bet that either wins or loses.

The traders are looking to make money off of the differences in price movement. They do not own any of the trading instruments; instead, they just speculate on whether they will increase or decrease in value based on information supplied by brokers in advance, which reveals any price changes.

Its primary benefits are as follows:

leveraged

market accessibility in various markets

There are no commission fees.

All of this will be discussed in chronological sequence.

In What Way is “Spread Betting” Defined?

When the phrase “spread betting” is used, it signifies that there is an extra spread around the market price (which is how they earn their money, thus the name “spread”), and when it is labeled a bet, it means that you are free from any capital gains taxes.

This is necessary in order for the transaction to qualify as a bet, which is why spread betting providers do not charge real commissions on any of the products that you trade. They earn money by posting bid/offer spreads that are bigger than those of the underlying market.

Bid-to-offer spreads are widespread in most financial markets, with the exception of the stock market. Every time you purchase stocks, bonds, ETFs, or foreign currencies, as well as every time you establish or end a spread betting position, you’ll come across them. The ‘spread’ is the difference between the current price market participants will offer you if you sell the stock (also known as the Bid price) and the price market participants will charge you if you want to purchase the stock (also known as the Ask price) (aka as the Ask price).

It is a little more difficult to predict how much the gap between the bid and ask price will be in spread betting since the prices are determined from the underlying stock’s standard bid/ask spread plus a little more to account for the provider’s rake. The somewhat larger bid-offer spread offered by this supplier is generally more than offset by the fact that you will not be required to pay capital gains tax, stamp duty, or income tax on profits earned from your spread betting transactions.

So, keep in mind that when you place a spread bet, you are betting on the price increasing above the spread or dropping below the spread, respectively. At any given moment, you will always be required to purchase at a greater price than you can sell your product for.

What is the Level of Risk Associated with Spread Betting?

Spread betting has a significant level of risk owing to the fact that you are dealing on borrowed money. However, as long as you have a reasonable risk management plan in place (e.g., avoiding trading in amounts that are too large in comparison to your account size, utilizing stop loss orders, etc.), trading on leverage need not be a frightening experience. But I would not advocate spread betting or CFDs to persons who are prone to obsessive gambling; however, for people who are disciplined and careful, it may be an excellent strategy to increase their profits. Remember that you do not have to utilize all of your money on a single deal, and you do not have to employ the leverage to its maximum potential – start small and work your way up.

For example, you know of a highly successful trader who holds spread bets (both long-term and short-term), but who does not take use of the leverage that spread betting companies give to their clients. In order to avoid this, he merely ensures that the value of his overall stock holdings does not surpass the amount of his cash reserves. That implies he is relatively free of emotional trading, and he has no chance of obtaining a margin call at any point in the future (the curse of spread betting).

There is a Distinction Between Forex Trading and Spread Betting

Beginners are often perplexed and unsure of what to do as a result of the vast variety of financial marketplaces available. Likewise, when it comes to forex trading and spread betting, the same holds true.

The distinctions between forex and spread betting are frequently minor, but the fundamental differences between the two markets, as well as how they function and what they provide, are important to grasp.

Several significant areas have been emphasized, and by concentrating on them, you will be able to quickly grasp the differences between the two.

Let’s start with the most apparent – a description of two different sorts of trading activities.

When you trade forex, you are buying and selling multiple currencies at the same time. Spread betting entails wagering on the outcome of these transactions, and as such, it is similar to gambling.

If Forex trading is conducted in foreign currency, then spread betting is applicable to a wide range of markets, including equities, bonds, and the foreign exchange market.

When trading forex, the trader either deposits the transaction amount at this time or the profit is restricted to the amount of the deposit. In the event of a spread, the trader makes a partial investment of his or her funds. As a consequence, they may trade at a high price, and the profit can be much more than the price at which they trade. However, keep in mind that the cost of failure might be quite high.

Spread betting is a relatively new kind of trading compared to the Forex market, which is more established and regulated. Due to the fact that this has been the case since the system’s inception many years ago, there are tight guidelines in place to ensure that things operate smoothly for traders across the globe who use this currency pairings system as part of their overall investing plan.

Spread betting, in contrast to forex trading, is strictly forbidden under Islamic law. The reason for this is because it is seen as a type of wagering.

Is it Possible to Trade Stocks 24 hours a Day, Seven Days a Week in the Near Future?

Stock markets may be able to provide 24-hour trading in the future, similar to that which is now available on foreign exchange and cryptocurrency markets in the short term. 24 Exchange, a cryptocurrency and foreign exchange trading platform established in Bermuda, promises to introduce round-the-clock trading in the digital currency arena to the stock market by the end of the year. 24 Exchange filed forms with the Securities and Exchange Commission in October 2021 in the hopes of receiving a license to operate a 24-hour exchange in 2022. The company hopes to begin operations in 2022.

When large geopolitical events occur, news and announcements are often made after normal trading hours or over the weekend, which has the potential to cause huge market changes… Knowing what is going on in the market before the market opens enables you to better position yourself and protect yourself from risk in the event of such unanticipated occurrences.

Pre-Market Trading Containing Risks

We will now discuss the hazards associated with pre-market trading, which include the following:

• When compared to the thousands of traders and investors that participate in normal trading, there is significantly less activity in the pre-market. As a result, liquidity is limited and bid-ask spreads are large. Consequently, pre-market trading volumes are often a fraction of the levels seen during the main session of the stock market. The outcome of low trading volumes is restricted liquidity, increased volatility, and huge bid-ask spreads on the stock market.

• Traders should be aware that the prices of equities traded in the pre-market may differ dramatically from the prices of same stocks traded during normal business hours. The influence of significantly different trading volumes between pre-market and regular sessions on stock prices is another factor to consider. In other cases, pre-market stock prices may only represent prices from one or a small number of electronic communication networks (ECNs). As a result of the availability of multiple exchanges, electronic communication networks (ECNs), and market makers to provide stock prices during regular trading hours, better price discovery can be achieved; the stock quotes displayed are aggregated and represent the best bid and offer across all trading venues.

• In several cases, non-execution of limit orders may occur: Many brokerages only allow limit orders during prolonged trading hours in order to shield investors from unexpectedly bad pricing. Limit orders may only be executed at the limit price or a price that is higher than the limit price. The advantage of using this feature of limit orders is that the investor will know the maximum price at which a stock will be purchased and the lowest price at which a stock will be sold before placing the order. It does, however, imply that if the market diverges significantly from the limit price, the order will not be fulfilled.

• Competition from institutional traders: Retail traders face an uneven playing field in pre-market trading because many of the participants are institutional and professional traders who have a trading advantage due to their significantly larger financial resources and access to better and more timely information than retail traders.

Because of these hazards, only experienced traders should consider participating in pre-market trading, since the odds are stacked against regular traders. The knowledge and experience of seasoned traders allows them to assess the numerous nuances that make trading difficult, such as determining whether the pre-market reaction to news is an under- or over-reaction, and to take decisive action on trading matters such as opening a new stock position or closing an existing one, setting limit prices at specific levels for buys and sells, and so on.

Is it Possible to Trade Ahead of the Market’s Opening?

The first day of pre-market trading may begin as early as 4 a.m. EST, however the majority of it takes place between 8 and 9 a.m. EST, and before normal trading begins at 9:30 a.m.

Can I Trade in the Pre-market Session if I don’t Want to Trade in the Market? Options?

In most cases, only publicly traded equities are available for trading during the pre-market session. However, not all stocks are created equal. Companies with a restricted float or that are not widely owned, as well as small-cap companies, may not have sufficient volume to make pre-market trading a profitable proposition. During the pre-market period, option trading are not authorized.

Do Online Brokers Provide Access to Pre-market Trading Opportunities?

Pre-market trading is available at almost all online brokers, albeit the hours vary from one broker to the next depending on the firm. As of December 21, 2021, the following are examples of pre-market trading hours at chosen online brokers (please keep in mind that these hours are subject to change):

• Pre-market trading is available from 7 a.m. EST to 9:28 a.m. EST on the TD Ameritrade platform.
• When trading at Charles Schwab, pre-market orders may be made between 8:05 pm (the previous trading day) and 9:25 am (the following trading day), and they are eligible for execution between 7 am and 9:25 am (the next trading day).
• Pre-market trading is available from 7 a.m. EST to 9:30 a.m. EST on the E*TRADE platform.
• Trading is available for Interactive Brokers’ “IBKR Pro” accounts from 4 a.m. EST to 9:30 a.m. EST, as well as for its “IBKR Lite” accounts from 7 a.m. EST to 9:30 a.m. EST, during the pre-trading hours.
• The pre-market trading period at Robinhood runs from 9 a.m. EST to 9:30 a.m. EST; however, deals may still be conducted as early as 8:58 a.m. EST if the market is open.
• Pre-market trading is available from 4 a.m. EST to 9:30 a.m. EST on Webull’s platform.

Is it Possible to Carry Over a Limit Order from Pre-market Trading into the Regular Session?

A majority of time, limit orders placed during pre-market trading are only valid for that specific session and do not carry over into the normal trading session if they are not executed. However, Interactive Brokers allows limit- or stop-limit orders to be active during all trading sessions, including pre-market, regular trading hours (RTH), and after-market; in order for such orders to be active during all trading sessions, the attribute “Allow Outside RTH” must be included in the order.

Why Is It Necessary to Have Extended Trading Hours?

The ability to trade throughout extended hours allows investors to respond to news and events that occur while the markets are closed. People who can’t purchase or sell shares during the usual trading session may take advantage of this simple trading option as well.

Intraday Trading applies to trading that happens on a daily basis. Traders make profits for a variety of reasons. A long-term investment that is a gradual process but it has the potential to deliver significant rewards is one option. A short-term strategy that includes trading for fast profits is another alternative. One such approach is intraday trading.

Things to Keep in Mind

• Intraday trading is the buying and selling of stocks on the same day, before the market closes. If you don’t, your broker has the option to square your position or convert it to a delivery trade.
• Whether an experienced trader or a novice, looking at trends and indicators is always beneficial for intraday trading.

Intraday Trading Basics:

• Intraday trading refers to stock purchases and sales on the same day. It is carried out through the use of internet trading platforms. If someone wants to acquire stock in a company, they must specifically say ‘intraday’ on the platform’s interface. Before the market shuts, the user can buy and sell the same amount of stocks in the same firm on the same day. The goal is to profit from market indexes moving up and down. Many people refer to it as “day trading.”

• If you are a long-term investor, the stock market can provide you with excellent profits. However, they can assist you in making money even in the short run. Let’s say a stock starts the day with a price of Rs 500. Within an hour or two, it had climbed to Rs. 550. You could have made a tidy profit of Rs 50,000 in only a few hours if you had acquired 1,000 equities in the morning and sold at Rs 550. Intraday trading is the term for this type of trading.

Trading Indicators for Intraday Trading

In intraday trading, traders frequently encounter difficulty due to concurrent events. Looking at trends as well as indications is always beneficial for everyday trading, whether a person is indeed a professional trader or a beginner. Let’s take a look at some of indicators:

Moving Average

A daily moving average (DMA) of the stocks is used by the majority of traders. The moving average is a lines on the charts that shows a stock’s behavior over time. These future anticipated the stock’s opening and closing rate. The minimal average line depicts the stock’s average closing rates throughout the specified time period and aids in understanding price fluctuations and determining the stock’s flow.

Bollinger Bands

These are bands which indicate the stock’s standard deviation. The moving average, upper limit, & lower limit are the three lines that make up the chart. If you are looking for a trading ranger for a specific stock, these will assist you in locating the stock’s price change over time so that you may place your money around the observations.

Momentum Oscillators

The stock market is quite volatile. Such changes are heavily influenced by market conditions. The momentum oscillator is helpful with traders who would like to know whether a stock will rise or fall. It is displayed on a scale of 1 to 100 and indicates whether a stock will climb or decrease further, assisting you in deciding when to buy a certain stock. It indicates the best moment to trade without causing you to lose money.

Relative Strength Index (RSI)

This is the indexed version of all the trading that takes place during a period of time on a stock. It is a measure from 1 to 100 which particular cluster whenever a stock is sold or bought at its highest point. When the RSI exceeds 70, it is regarded overbought, and when it falls below 30, it is deemed oversold. This calculation is made using a formula, and is as follows:

RSI = 100 – [100 / (1 + (Average of Upward Price Change / Average of Downward Price Change)]

Analysis of Intraday Time

The daily charts seem to be the most effective tools for intraday trading when it concerns to variations and swings. These can include all of the relevant information about the stocks, as well as indicators that demonstrate the stock’s trend over a specific time period. They illustrate the price movement from the beginning to the end of the market.

While momentum swings quickly, time analysis has become a critical tool for intraday trading. You won’t be able to read the charts before the stock you invested in plunges sharply or rises sharply. As a response, day traders should look for these kind of charts that will help them better comprehend the flow discussed these topics in depth in things to know before engaging in intraday trading.

When it comes to Intraday Trading, How do you Choose Stocks?

When it comes to Intraday Trading, choosing stocks is the first and most important stage. And besides, whatever effort and money you put in are only worthwhile if you get a return; else, it’s all over. So, how do we make sensible stock selections? Let’s take a closer look.

• Avoid volatile stocks: It’s always best to stay away from anything that appears to be unstable. Why risk your money on something that may never repay you? As a result, it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the stock’s performance and think about trading over potentially reliable stocks.

• Match stocks to geopolitical changes: It’s best to invest in stocks that are linked to important industries. If the sector’s index rises, the stock’s price may rise as well. The iron industries, for example, would be impacted by the strengthening of the Rupee against the Chinese Renminbi. As a result, export revenue would rise, while stock levels would rise. Selecting stocks while maintaining such market trends in mind would be extremely beneficial.

• Research: The essential steps of trading are looking, evaluating, and comprehending. Unless you have a lot of luck on your side when trading, nothing goes smoothly without proper calculations. Due to the fact that luck isn’t always on your side, it’s always a good idea to conduct your homework before investing.

• Trends: Rather than being a lone wolf, it’s sometimes wiser to follow the herd. Look for the market’s overall flow or stocks that have piqued traders’ curiosity. When the market rises, traders must seek for stocks that are rising, and when the market falls, traders must hunt for stocks that are falling.

Five Things to know about Intraday Trading

Trading Strategy

Intraday trading is a strategy in which you buy and sell equities on the same trading day. Traders profit from price swings that occur during market hours as a result. If a trader believes the price will rise during the day, he or she will buy a big number of shares and sell them later. On the other hand, short-selling is a possibility. Short-selling is a strategy used by traders to profit from a falling market. When they take out a loan and sell their shares on the open market, this is known as a leveraged buyout. Traders purchase shares at a lower cost and then sell them back to the lender when the price drops to the proper amount.

High-risk

Because day traders rely on volatility to generate money, they are exposed to considerable risks. A long-term stock investor takes a lot more risk than this. As a result, intraday traders are usually risk-takers who are willing to take substantial risks. Margin trading is typically used to execute high-value trades worth hundreds or crores of rupees. Intraday traders, on the other hand, have the ability to make a lot of money in a short period of time.

The effect on stock prices

They frequently get an impact on the price trend of a stock by doing so. For instance, a stock is now trading in the Rs 100-102 region. Intraday or day traders decides to stake $1,000 on the stock. As a result, demand for the stock has risen significantly. As a result, prices rise slightly. Traders sell their stocks whenever it reaches a specific level. Prices fall as a result of this.

Technical analysis: Because day traders are mainly interested in the stock’s price and volume volatility, they rarely delve into the underlying company’s financial soundness. They frequently use technical analysis. This includes examining previous stock price and volume trends in order to estimate future prices. The use of technical analysis can assist in determining the best times to buy and sell stocks. This normally necessitates a significant amount of effort and time. As a result, day traders are typically full-time traders who meticulously monitor every stock change.

Day-trading 101

First and foremost, the goal is to choose equities with a high trading volume. This indicates that they are extremely liquid. This might include penny stocks, which are shares in small businesses that sell for as little as Rs 20. Select not more than 2 or 3 stocks at a time. Keeping track of more shares would become tough. Make decisions on the price you would like to buy and sell at – your entry & target prices. Above all, make sure you have a stop loss order in place to protect yourself. This will assist you in lowering your dangers. After placing your order, keep a close eye on it and exit when the price hits your target or stop-loss levels.

Delivery vs. Intraday Trading

You have a lot of freedom when buying shares on a delivery basis. You can decide whether to keep it or sell it the next day. Whatever you want to do with it is absolutely up to you. When you believe the market is high or the value of the stocks you possess is sufficient to trade, you can sell them to profit.

You must sell equities before the market closes on the same day if you are doing intraday trading. One of two things may occur if you don’t. Some websites charge a fee to turn such stocks into delivery deals, allowing you to sell them anytime you want. Others simply square-off your trades at closure time at market pricing, even if you’re losing money, and you’re stuck with the losses.

• The Moving Average, Bollinger Bands, Relative Strength Index, and Momentum Oscillators are common indicators that traders find useful.
• Intraday trading is done with the objective of making quick money rather than investing.
• It’s recommended to avoid stocks that are highly volatile. Traders should look for stocks that are tied to major industries.
• Whether a trader is a beginner or an experienced pro, research and trend analysis are critical.

Margin trading allows investors to increase their purchasing power by trading stocks and other securities. Margin trading is the process of borrowing money from a brokerage firm in order to buy stocks. The amount owed to the brokerage by an investor is known as the margin balance. A margin debit balance occurs when an investor uses the brokerage’s funds to purchase securities.

A margin balance is a line of credit that the borrower must repay with interest, similar to a credit card or traditional loan. Margin trading involves having an outstanding margin balance, but investors should be aware of the consequences of owing money to a brokerage and what can happen if you’re subject to a margin call.

What Is Margin Balance?

In a margin trading account, the margin balance is the amount of money owed to the brokerage at any particular time. When a margin account is opened, the investor must make an initial deposit known as the “minimum margin.” A minimum margin of $2,000 is required by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), while some brokerages may ask a greater minimum.

Investors can trade utilizing an initial margin after depositing funds into their brokerage account. When trading on margin, investors can borrow up to 50% of the buying price of shares under Federal Reserve Board Regulation T. A margin trader, for example, could buy $10,000 worth of stocks with their own money and another $10,000 with the brokerage’s money. The investor’s margin balance is represented by the $10,000 borrowed from the brokerage.

In a margin account, you can trade a range of securities, including stocks and derivatives like options and futures. For margin balance forex, the rules are slightly different. Margin is a term used in forex trading to describe the amount of money or security that an investor must deposit with a brokerage in order to begin trading. This is usually set as a percentage of the trading order by the brokerage.

How Margin Balance Works

Investors can borrow money and subsequently repay it to the brokerage with interest if they have a margin balance. The amount susceptible to interest charges is represented by a negative margin balance, often known as a margin debit balance. Depending on how much an investor owes, this amount is either a negative number or $0 at all times.

Margin balance loans, unlike other sorts of loans, do not have a predetermined repayment period. Using their brokerage account, investors can make payments toward the principle and interest at their leisure. They can also reduce their margin balance by depositing cash into their margin accounts or selling their leveraged securities.

Margin Calls

While paying off a negative margin amount has some flexibility, investors should be aware of their interest charges as well as the danger of being exposed to a margin call. Margin calls are simply a brokerage’s interim risk management tool. Investors must follow maintenance margin recommendations in addition to the minimum and initial margin requirements. This is the bare minimum of equity that an investor must maintain in their account. The maintenance requirement, according to FINRA guidelines, is at least 25% equity based on the value of the margin account.

Some brokerages may increase this to 30%, 40%, or even 50%. Assume that an investor deposits $10,000 of their own money and borrows $10,000 from their brokerage to invest in marginable securities, as in the prior example. Let’s imagine the investment doesn’t pan out and the stock price plummets. That $20,000 investment has now grown to $10,000. When the $10,000 margin debit balance is deducted, the net balance is $0, indicating that the trader has no equity and is not meeting the maintenance margin requirements.

The brokerage may issue a margin call at this stage, requiring the investor to deposit additional funds into their account in order to continue trading. If an investor is unable to meet the maintenance margin requirement with additional funds, the brokerage may sell securities from the account to reclaim the negative margin amount.

Negative Margin Balance

In a margin account, a negative margin balance represents the amount due to the brokerage. The margin debit balance may be presented in parenthesis or with a negative symbol in front of it, depending on the brokerage.

Example of a Margin Balance

When logging into their account, an investor with a negative margin amount of $12,225 might see one of the following:

• Margin balance: -$12,225
• Margin balance: ($12,22

Both indicate that the investor owes the brokerage $12,225 for trading on margin.

When a trader’s margin balance is positive, it signifies the trader has a margin credit balance rather than a margin debit balance. If an investor sells shares to clear their negative margin balance, but the settlement amount is greater than what they owe the brokerage, a credit balance can result.

How Is The Margin Balance Calculated?

Brokerages can lend money on margin to investors, but in exchange for this convenience, they can charge interest, or margin rates, to those investors. The amount you pay for those rates varies depending on the brokerage and the sort of securities you’re trading. Many brokerages utilize a benchmark rate, also known as a broker call rate or call money rate, and then scale that rate based on the size of the margin account.

Brokerages can use this as a starting point for adding or subtracting percentage points. The higher the margin rate discount, in general, the larger the margin account balance. Traders with lower margin balances, on the other hand, incur higher interest rates. As a result, an investor with less than $25,000 in their account may pay 7% to 8% in margin rates, whilst an investor with more than $1 million in their account may pay 4% to 5% in margin rates.

Margin interest is calculated on a daily basis by brokers and charged to an investor’s account monthly. Interest costs on a margin account can have a direct impact on the net return on an investment. Higher margin rates can raise the required rate of return to break even on an investment or profit on a stock.

Managing Your Margin Balance

Understanding the risks involved in managing a margin account and margin balances, including the possibility of a margin call, is the first step in managing a margin account and margin holdings. The value of your assets might affect your margin balance, and higher volatility could cause the value of margin securities to fall, putting you below the required maintenance margin. To keep trading, you’ll need to deposit additional money into your account.

Keeping cash reserve in your margin account will help you avoid margin calls. Alternatively, you might hold a money in a separate account that you could move to your margin account if increasing volatility threatens to depreciate the value of your margin assets. It’s also crucial to think about how much money you’re willing to owe your brokerage at any particular time. Setting a limit on your maximum margin can help you prevent going overboard. You can also keep your margin balances under control by making frequent cash payments or selling securities on a regular basis to lower the amount due. To avoid your balance from rising, one option is to pay enough each month to cover the interest.

Pre-market trading refers to the time of trading activity that takes place prior to the start of the regular trading session. On most trading days, the pre-market trading period takes place between the hours of 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. Many investors and traders keep an eye on the pre-market trading activity in order to gauge the strength and direction of the market ahead of the main trading session.

Only “electronic markets,” such as an alternative trading system (ATS) or an electronic communication network, can be used to execute pre-market orders with a limited number of available orders (ECN). Market makers are not authorized to execute orders until the 9:30 a.m. Eastern Standard Time opening bell has sounded.

Pre-Market Trading: What You Need to Know

In general, pre-market trading activity is characterized by low volume and liquidity, resulting in wide bid-ask spreads that are typical. A large number of retail brokers provide pre-market trading; however, they may impose restrictions on the sorts of orders that may be placed during the pre-market time. The access to pre-market trading may begin as early as 4 a.m. EST on Monday through Friday, according to a number of direct-access brokerage firms.

It is crucial to remember that, unless there is breaking news, there is usually little movement for most stocks thus early in the morning. Aside from that, liquidity is low, with most equities only displaying stub quotes on stock exchanges, which makes it difficult to trade. Moving quotations are experienced by index-based exchange-traded funds (ETFs), such as the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY), as a result of the trading in S&P 500 futures contracts. In the case of a substantial gap up or down in the S&P 500 futures, many of the most frequently held top positions in benchmark indexes may also see movement in the opposite direction. Large-capitalization, widely held equities such as Apple Inc. (AAPL) are known to see transactions as early as 4:15 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST).

After-hours trading was launched before the start of the regular trading day. By extending trading hours by one hour, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) became the first major stock exchange to provide after-hours trading. The move was made in response to rising competition from foreign exchanges in London and Tokyo, as well as private exchanges that provided additional trading hours. A total of 2.24 million shares were traded in two sessions of trading, indicating that the move was successful. 3 Over the years, as exchanges became increasingly computerized and the Internet’s reach expanded beyond national borders, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) began extending the number of trading hours available for trading, eventually allowing pre-market trading between the hours of 4 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., and after-hours trading until 9:30 a.m.

Trading Before the Market Opens

IMPORTANT TAKEAWAYS

• Pre-market trading is defined as trading that takes place between the hours of 4 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. EST.
• Pre-market trading is characterized by a lack of liquidity, low trading volumes, and wide bid-ask spreads, among other characteristics.

The Advantages of Pre-Market Trading

Pre-market trading and after-hours trading (together referred to as extended-hours trading) are comparable in terms of both advantages and hazards. First, let us consider the advantages:

• It provides a chance to respond to breaking news early in the morning: Pre-market news provides the retail investor with an opportunity to react to overnight news before the regular trading session begins, giving them a competitive advantage. Corporate results (although most businesses declare profits after the markets close rather than before the open) or a large company announcement, overnight breaking news such as a geopolitical event, or news emerging from international markets are examples of this kind of news. The caveat here is that the response to such news during the pre-market period may revert during the normal trading session. Due to the small trading volume in the pre-market, it is possible that a signal of weakness or strength may be generated that will not be confirmed after the market opens and normal trading volumes have been established. Suppose a company publishes disappointing profits. The stock may fall sharply in pre-market trading, but it might rebound in the main trading session and conclude the day higher in the final trading session.

• Trading at your convenience: This is a significant advantage for the do-it-yourself investor since not everyone has a schedule that allows them to trade during normal market hours. Because of the hectic pace of daily life, being able to start the day early and conduct trades in the pre-market is a significant benefit for the majority of individuals.

• To get a leg up on the competition, do one of the following: Astute traders and investors who are aware with trading trends and have prior expertise in extended-hours trading may be able to take advantage of the pre-market to purchase or sell stocks at a more advantageous price than those achieved by other traders during the normal trading day and hour. This is only conceivable if the pre-market response to news concerning a company is correct, and if the stock does not completely discount the news in pre-market trading before the stock opens for business. An equity that trades higher in the pre-market will continue to trend considerably higher during the regular trading session, while an equity that trades lower in the pre-market will trend down during the regular trading session.

What is the Nasdaq-100 Pre-Market Indicator and How Does It Work?

This indicator is derived based on the last sale of Nasdaq-100 shares during the pre-market trading period of 8:15 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. EST on the Nasdaq-100 stock exchange. It is calculated using the final selling price from the previous day’s 4 p.m. closing price for Nasdaq-100 equities that do not trade in the pre-market, according to the SEC. The Nasdaq-100 Pre-Market Indicator and the Nasdaq-100 After Hours Indicator are both valuable indicators of market mood as trading continues into the evening.

This article mainly concentrating on the currency market, although high-frequency trading isn’t limited to it. This approach entails making a large number of deals in a short period of time. They are carried out so swiftly that only a computer is capable of performing them at this level. High-frequency trading isn’t the only way that technology is influencing the forex market; apps and other tools have made it easier and more flexible for traders. The following characteristics are common in high-frequency trading:

• There are a lot of trades;
• Orders can be cancelled fast;
• Positions are kept for a brief period of time
• At the end of each trading day, all open positions are closed.
• Trade profit margins are razor-thin.
• The algorithm is powered by data feeds and proximity services.
• Private trade, such as when a bank invests for its own profit rather than for the benefit of its customers.

In essence, high-frequency forex trading relies on algorithms to predict market changes before they occur. So it’s not looking at how the Dollar’s inflation numbers would affect the market; instead, it’s looking at the tiniest changes in currency pairs in order to make a million tiny profits.

How High Frequency Forex Trading Works

Technology is at the heart of high-frequency FX trading. There are comprehensive server market studies available that explain the applications, processors, form factors, and other elements that contribute to the most high-frequency trading. It’s critical for traders to deploy cutting-edge equipment that can compete with world’s other supercomputers.

High-frequency trading is effectively a more sophisticated version of forex expert advisors, which provide automatic trading recommendations and help. These algorithms take market data into account and use a complicated set of indicators to determine whether or not to make a transaction. They end up day trading the FX market, but at much bigger volumes.

Types of Algorithms

Algorithms aren’t all created equal. For different sorts of trading, multiple algorithms may be utilized. Algorithmic trading is usually divided into four categories:

• Statistical – To anticipate lucrative trades, these algorithms use statistical analysis of previous data.
• Auto-Hedging – These algorithms limit risk exposure automatically.
• Execution Strategies – This is a wide term for algorithms that have been programmed to perform a certain purpose. This could be anything from avoiding market impact to quickly performing deals, depending on the programmer’s preferences.
• Direct Market Access – Traders can use these algorithms to access numerous trading platforms at a faster rate and for less money.

Some or all of these algorithms can be used in high-frequency trading to process a large number of trades very quickly. While all high-frequency trading is algorithmic, not all algorithmic trading is based on high-frequency techniques.

Programming Languages

The software that leads to enhanced forex trading is much more complex than the Java programs that are commonly used for day trading. Several languages are used to write high-frequency trading algorithms: R is frequently used for data and statistical analysis, while C++ enables for quicker program architectures.

Java, Matlab, and C# are also used by some traders. The most crucial factor is for the software designer to be able to create something that is quick enough to outperform the other high-frequency trading systems on the market.

Individuals and Institutions

So, who is it that trades high-frequency forex? It’s not always the tiny guy, though. High-frequency trading is used by several large institutions. As a result of these operations, they get a competitive advantage in the market, and the market becomes extremely liquid as millions of orders are placed. Because the individual profits on their transactions are miniscule, the advantage that institutions get is primarily on the volume of deals. To encourage high-frequency trading, certain trading venues offer decreased transaction fees.

These features may provide a competitive advantage to large institutions capable of more sophisticated, high-volume high-frequency trading over smaller businesses and individual investors. Is that reasonable? Some people believe that the liquidity provided by these organizations makes it worthwhile.

Is it Worth It to Trade Forex at High Frequency?

If you’re weary of tearing your hair out over the European Central Bank’s inflation forecasts or Deutsche Bank’s new FX trading engine, and attempting to figure out how these opaque inner workings can affect your personal transactions, handing everything up to an algorithm can sound quite appealing. So, how can you tell if high-frequency forex trading is for you? As you work through this, there are a few questions you should ask yourself.

High Frequency Forex Trading’s Advantages and Disadvantages

So, who should be involved in high-frequency forex trading? It isn’t for everyone, but don’t worry, there are lots of different forex trading tactics available. But, before you determine whether or not high-frequency forex is suited for you, consider the benefits and drawbacks. We’ll go over the benefits and drawbacks of these methods not only for the investors who use them, but also for the market as a whole.

Advantages

• Increases market liquidity
• Reduces spreads
• Arbitrage is reduced.
• Is unaffected by major market fluctuations
• Consistent profit with the least amount of human effort

Disadvantages

• Inaccessible to smaller businesses
• Increases market volatility
• There is a greater chance of flash crashes and sell-offs in the market.

High Frequency Forex Trading Pros

Because capital flows in and out of a large volume of trades during each trading day, high-frequency forex trading makes markets extremely liquid. Regular traders may transfer their money more quickly as a result of this, and liquidity tightens spreads and minimizes arbitrage.

The benefits of high-frequency trading can be enormous for investors who can afford it. This type of trading is based on modest market movements, thus earnings are maintained even when the market is volatile. High-frequency trading generates consistent gains while requiring very little human intervention, giving investors more time to do other things.

High Frequency Forex Trading Cons

Some argue that the benefit of liquidity is insufficient to compensate for the unfairness of supercomputers entering the market. The resources required for high-frequency trading are out of reach for most people and small businesses. It can also increase market volatility and increase the danger of flash collapses.

Conclusion

So, you’re all set to begin! If there’s one piece of advice we can give you, it’s to get started trading high-frequency FX the right way. You need to stay ahead of the curve as the market for high-frequency trading servers grows. I hope this post has provided you with some useful forex trading information.

In 2019, cryptocurrencies can be called the most popular financial instrument. The high volatility of tokens creates a good potential for super profits. The decentralized nature and lack of regulation of the digital financial industry allows market makers to effectively apply the “Pump & Dump” strategy, which is quite famous on Wall Street. In other words, significant capital turnover allows large traders to manipulate quotes in order to make a profit. Such activities are illegal in terms of the stock and commodity markets, however, on decentralized sites, market makers constantly use such strategies . This is possible due to ineffective regulation or lack of it.

Among other things, the potential for high profits in the cryptocurrency market is created by high volatility. The cost of cryptocurrencies can change during the day up to 50%, thanks to which everyone can significantly increase their capital. For a stable income on the pricing of altcoins, it is not enough to register on a specialized exchange and make a deposit. Successfully trading tokens , like any other derivative asset, requires an effective strategy.

This article explores a proven system for making money on altcoin pricing, and provides practical advice based on personal experience. The knowledge gained after acquaintance with the material can be put into practice even by novice traders.

What is important to know for successful altcoin trading?

Trading cryptocurrencies is significantly different from money management in the OTC market. When working with charts of currency pairs, traders use technical and computer analysis tools. These methods are useless when trading altcoins. The pricing of cryptocurrencies is extremely difficult to lend itself to standard analytical methods, however, there are still ways to make a stable profit from trading with these instruments. Before proceeding to their consideration, trader should pay attention to the characteristic features of the dynamics of altcoin pricing:

• For cryptocurrency charts, impulses of a wide range are characteristic, that is, the price can instantly change by several tens of points.
• Altcoins are not prone to corrections. There are quite effective trading systems based on corrective movements. If the chart of a currency pair or stock travels a significant distance in one direction, then the probability of a short-term movement against the main trend is close to 90%. This is confirmed by statistical data.

The screenshot shows a segment of the chart of the GBP / USD pair with the H1 period, on which 2 price impulses of a significant range are formed. Please note that each price jump is followed by a correction, the maximum value of which can reach 50% of the momentum. There is one important condition for the formation of a correction – the range of the jump should not be less than the average daily volatility of the asset (for the GBP / USD pair, this value is 120 points).

For cryptocurrencies, the formation of a correction is not typical. Pay attention to the segment of the BTC / USD pair chart , on which 2 price impulses are formed:

The probability of a correction forming after a price jump on cryptocurrency charts is approximately 50/50. Consequently, an effective strategy to make money on pullbacks, which can be successfully applied when trading Forex, turns out to be useless when working with altcoins.

• When trading cryptocurrencies, it is unacceptable to use oscillators due to the high percentage of false signals. To analyze such assets, it is much more efficient to use standard trend indicators (Bollinger envelope, moving averages, and others).
• When analyzing token charts, it is useless to use the Price Action candlestick analysis system.
• Wide spreads, the range of which can reach 100 pips, especially in conditions of increased liquidity.
• Changing trading sessions does not have any effect on altcoin pricing dynamics.
The decentralized nature of the cryptocurrency market and the lack of regulation create all the conditions for large trading participants to use the Pump & Dump strategy. As practice shows, mainly new and little-known tokens are subject to this.

A Proven Method of Successfully Trading Altcoins

The most important feature of cryptocurrency pricing that anyone can effectively use in trading is the frequent formation of price impulses. To make money on this, it is important to place trade orders in a timely manner in the direction of the jump. For this, it is recommended to use pending Buy Stop and Sell Stop orders.

To place orders, trader should wait for the formation of at least 5 candles formed in the same price range. Such “patterns” are displayed on the BTC / USD chart almost every day.

To identify a trading signal, it is important to pay attention to the number of candles, which must be at least 5. All price elements must be formed within the same range. The example shows that a Buy Stop order was opened, after which the deal was closed by Take Profit.

The presented strategy has been tested on personal experience. With its help, even a novice trader will be able to earn up to 40% of the deposit every month, while observing the rules of money management (the risk for each transaction is no more than 10% of the capital).

Attention! The application of the considered method in practice is possible only when trading cryptocurrencies on specialized exchanges. When dealing with altcoin pricing CFDs through Forex brokers, this strategy is not safe to use. The fact is that in the user agreements of some companies there is a special clause, the conditions of which can deprive a trader of profit:

” The company reserves the right to cancel the client’s financial result if the value of the derivative financial instrument has changed by more than 10% within 1 hour.”
As mentioned earlier, the pricing of cryptocurrencies is unregulated, which makes these assets highly volatile. There have been cases when the value of tokens changed by 80% during the day. With the previously mentioned trading condition, some brokers try to protect themselves from possible losses. It is important to remember that conflicts of interest are integral to dealing with CFDs. Therefore, in order to reduce non-trading risks to a minimum, it is recommended to trade altcoins through specialized exchanges.

Method of trading cryptocurrencies

To increase the profit potential, trader can use a more complex strategy based on the Fibonacci grid. It is important to wait for the formation of 4-7 price elements in a narrow price range and determine the local trend. Trading will be carried out with pending orders and only in the direction of the trend.

The circle marks the segment of the chart, the minimum / maximum of which was taken as a basis for drawing Fibonacci levels. Note that the local trend is downtrend this time, so stretch the grid from bottom to top. Trading rules are similar to those discussed earlier. Since the local trend is downward, trader only need to place a Sell Stop order at the level of 61.8. As trader can see, the deal was closed with profit taking. Closing an order with a loss is also possible under the influence of market noise, but this happens quite rarely.

Suri Dudela has been trading the futures and stock markets for over 13 years and is the author of Professional Chart Pattern Trading.

Various chart patterns such as “double top” and “head and shoulders” essentially give the same signals for a trend reversal at the end of the pattern. Considering that these models are the most common figures of technical analysis for almost all financial markets, we decided to consider in more detail the various options for their formation and some trading rules using them.

These patterns form when price fails to make new lows or new highs at significant previous levels.

Double Top and Double Bottom patterns are relatively reliable and easy to trade. When a pattern fails, it could signal the potential for a triple top or triple bottom pattern to form.

Double Top / Bottom patterns have several variations, and these variations involve different pattern recognition methods and trading rules.

Formation of Double Top / Bottom Patterns

In active markets, double top / bottom patterns occur when the market moves quickly to a peak or bottom, accompanied by high volume in the first stage. Without any warning signals, the market reverses and retraces to the key support / resistance level and after some consolidation rises / falls to the previous peak / bottom with less volume in the second stage. These two sharp moves form a double top / bottom pattern and signal a potential reversal of the previous trend. In most of these patterns, the two swing to peak or bottom should not be equal and one of the tops / bottoms can be higher or lower than the other.

The previous move before the formation of a double top / bottom pattern signals whether it will be a continuation pattern or a reversal pattern. If the previous move was a long extended up / downtrend to the first top / bottom, then the pattern could signal a reversal, while on a short previous move, it could be a continuation pattern.
Markets making new highs / lows (at least in the last 40 bars) can signal a reversal pattern. The “size” of the pattern, or the length of the interval between two tops / bottoms, gives an estimate of the likelihood that the pattern will succeed. A sufficient duration of the interval between two tops / bottoms signals a high probability of a reversal. The “size” of the retracement (at least 15% of the swing start) between two tops / bottoms also indicates the likelihood of the pattern being successful. If we see high volume on the first top / bottom and weak volume on the second top / bottom, followed by higher volume on the breakout signal, then there is a high probability that the pattern will succeed.

Double Top Trading Rules

A “double top” is a two-peak formation with an intermediate swing low. After the completion of the second peak, price declines below the reaction low, signaling a potential trade.

Varieties of Double Top / Bottom Patterns

Knowledge of the types of patterns and trading rules for them significantly increases the chances of successful trading on “double tops / bottoms”. Most of the patterns have some variation of their basic structure (simple or complex) with slightly different rules for trading different patterns in the same group, but have the same requirements for volume change, price movement and entry timing. Some examples of variations of the Double Top / Bottom pattern are Dragon, Trader Wick’s 2B Top / Bottom, and Adam and Eve, which we will briefly discuss below.

Dragon model

Dragon patterns usually form at the bottom of the market. This pattern works on all time frames and on all market instruments. Like most double bottom patterns, the dragon represents superior trading opportunities with a low risk to reward ratio. The dragon pattern resembles the W pattern, and the inverse dragon pattern is similar to the M pattern, albeit with different trading rules.

The dragon pattern begins with the formation of a head, after which the price descends from the level of the head to form the two legs of the dragon. These two “legs” in the model are usually formed with a price difference of 5% – 10%. The second leg provides a strong signal of an imminent reversal, especially when confirmed by a reversal bar or divergence on any oscillator. A price increase in the second leg is usually accompanied by a spike in volume. A trend line is drawn by connecting the dragon’s head to the hump. When the price closes above the trendline and the given price action is confirmed by divergence on any oscillator, it signals a reversal. The second confirmation of the dragon pattern occurs when price closes above the hump, usually located within the 38% -50% range from the head to the low of the first leg.

The foreign exchange market demonstrates such unpredictable dynamics that all advisors and the best forex indicators without competent trader management remain absolutely useless tools. Therefore, the number 1 task of any beginner is to learn how to make a high-quality forex forecast . Let’s consider what options exist, and then try to make a choice in favor of one of them.

This is where all kinds of lines, forex advisors , indicators and other auxiliary applications are used. The whole mechanics of the deal is as follows:

• The trader receives a signal to enter a position based on the data that the instruments used by him demonstrate.
• Immersed in the deal. In most cases, this moment does not have a clear reference to time and is determined by the internal instinct of the market participant (his experience, inferences, forecasts).
• Exit the position and fix the result. The main focus here is on compliance with the rules of money management, when the level of potential risk is two or more times less than the expected profit.

The quality of forecasting here is influenced by the trading rules, according to which the selected method of earning operates. In this regard, profitable forex strategies must meet the following parameters:

• Comprehensible logic based on the laws of market mechanics.
• At least three mutually complementary conditions, on the basis of which a trader makes a decision to enter a trade.
• Correct risk / reward ratio.
• High performance that can be verified in history.
• Clear conditions allowing trader to leave the position in time.

This forecasting method refers to the study of financial and foreign exchange events that can affect the dynamics of the foreign exchange market. This is the most difficult and key analytical method. Only truly competent traders are able to use it effectively. The main problems are related to the fact that the same events in different conditions are displayed in different ways on the market.

Suppose trader need to make a forecast for the euro dollar currency pair for November 2015. In this case, the trader’s actions will look like this:

• The initial assessment of the situation is based on the data recorded in the “Economic Calendar”.
• When suitable conditions are selected, a preliminary forecast is made regarding the future price action. The situation is aggravated by the axiom stating that it is necessary to buy assets by ear and sell on the basis of established facts.
• The related factors and circumstances are studied, which confirm / deny the prediction made. Here trader need to be able to filter information and work only with primary data.
• The deal is in progress. Unlike the previous forecasting method, here the emphasis is on a short-term impulse movement, after the completion of which, an open deal is immediately exited.

The altcoin trading methods discussed in the article are effective and tested on personal experience, however, novice traders are strongly encouraged to familiarize themselves with the presented strategies on a demo account in order to gain the experience necessary for successful trading. It is also recommended to analyze the history of quotes for a period of at least 6 months. This will allow trader to verify the effectiveness of the considered methods and assess the potential for profit.

Important! The use of Martingale and averaging methods in combination with the presented strategies is not recommended.

The strategies mentioned are only recommended to be applied on the BTC / USD pair as it is the leading high-cap altcoin. It is impossible to use the “Pump & Dump” strategy by large trading participants on such assets.

In general industry, the margin is the difference between the sale price of a good or service and the cost of production, or the profit-to-revenue ratio. Margin may also apply to the part of an adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM) rate that is applied to the adjustment-index rate. Leverage in trading may seem to be a good idea — before the trader factors in the margin rate and all other fees. a trader must prepare for this before trading on margin.

Otherwise, a trader risk turning a profitable transaction into a losing one. Margin rate calculation is not difficult. However, it is one of those things that a trader can overlook. That is before a trader finds himself in a leveraged role for a longer period than expected. The strategy can succeed only if a trader’s trading plan is comprehensive.

How to Perform Margin Trading

The procedure is very straightforward. A margin account enables a trader to purchase more of a currency than a trader can afford at any given time.

The broker must lend money to purchase shares and retain them as collateral.

To exchange on margin, a trader must first open a margin account with a trader’s broker. This allows a trader to pay the broker a certain amount of money upfront in cash, referred to as the minimum margin. This will assist the dealer in recovering some money by squaring off if the seller loses the bet and is unable to regain it.

If the account is opened, a trader must pay an initial margin (IM), which is a predetermined amount of the overall exchanged value. Before a trader begins trading, there are three critical steps to note. To begin, a trader must retain the minimum margin (MM) during the day, as the currency price will fall more than expected on a volatile day.

Next, after each trading session, a trader must square off a trader’s position. If a trader purchases shares, a trader must sell them. And if a trader has sold shares, a trader will need to repurchase them at the session’s conclusion.

Then, turn it to a shipping order after the trade, in which case a trader would need to hold cash on hand to purchase all of the shares a trader purchased during the session, as well as to cover dealer commissions and other costs.

If any of these steps are skipped, the broker will automatically square off the market position.

Disadvantages of Margin Rate

1. A trader Must Have a Minimum Rate to Make a Margin Loan

When taking out a margin loan for the first time, a trader must have a minimum amount of equity in a trader’s portfolio to borrow against. This rate is set at 50% by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). a trader can borrow less than 50%, but not more. Now, suppose a trader’s trade is a loss. a trader can continue to hold the role as long as a trader’s account meets the maintenance criteria. FINRA needs a minimum of 25%, but brokers often exceed this by 30% to 40%.

2. Margin Rate can Magnify Both a trader’s Gain and Loss

The margin rate can magnify a trader’s gains, but it can also magnify a trader’s losses as used for trading purposes. Consider trading $5,000 in cash to purchase 100 shares of a $50 portfolio. After a year, the currency has increased to $70. a trader’s shares have increased in value to $7,000. a trader sells and gets a return of $2,000 on the transaction.

3. A Trader Must Pay Both the Principal and the Margin Rate

As for every bond, when a trader purchase securities on margin, a trader must repay the principal plus rate, which varies by brokerage company and loan number. Margin premiums are usually smaller than those associated with credit cards and unsecured personal loans. Additionally, a margin loan has no fixed maturity schedule—monthly rate payments accrue to a trader’s account, and a trader can repay the balance at the trader’s convenience. Additionally, if a trader uses the margin to buy taxable tradings and itemize a trader’s deductions, margin income can be tax-deductible (subject to certain limitations, consult a tax professional about a trader’s situation).

Is Purchasing on Margin a Good Idea?

The same cautions apply if a trader is going long using margin as leverage. It will work in a trader’s favor. However, keep in mind that a trader can risk more than a trader saves. If a trader fails to fulfill a margin requirement, a trader’s trading company is not allowed to consult a trader before closing positions in a trader’s portfolio. Indeed, in the worst-case scenario, a trader’s trading company could sell all of a trader’s currency, leaving a trader with nothing but debt. Although many borrowers prefer not to buy as much as 50% on margin as seen in the examples above—the less margin leverage a trader has, the less pressure a trader takes on, and the less likely a trader will face a margin call. Additionally, a well-diversified portfolio can help mitigate the risk of a margin call.

If a trader wants to use margin, the following suggestions will assist a trader in managing a trader’s account:

[*=3]Pay rate on margin rates daily. [*=3]Maintain a close eye on a trader’s savings, bonds, and margin lending. [*=3]Create a trader’s own “trigger point” that is slightly higher than the official margin maintenance standard. [*=3]Prepare for the risk of a margin call by accumulating additional financial capital or deciding which part of the portfolio to sell. [*=3]Never, ever disregard a margin order.

The margin rate is the rate that brokers charge traders who buy financial instruments such as currency on margin and keep them overnight. Additionally, it can apply to a premium assessed in addition to the broker’s call rate. In trading, it is popular for traders to buy currency on margin, which means borrowing capital from the broker to purchase more securities than they would have been able to purchase otherwise. However, when used prudently and responsibly, a margin loan may be an extremely beneficial asset under the right circumstances. If a trader decides that margin is the best approach for a trader, consider beginning slowly and progressing by practice. Consult a trader’s financial adviser and tax advisor on a trader’s specific case.
